I realised that I was reading all the books, but wasn’t putting any of the tools into practice and actually doing the work. Alison helped me to let go of fear and actually do the work. She helped give me the tools I need, how to carry them with me and continue to apply them throughout my life.

Questions are the answers

Asking questions is the first way to begin change. Please get in touch if you don’t find what you’re looking for.

  • My home-based practice is based in Pyes Pa, Tauranga and offers both in-person and online sessions Monday to Friday mornings by appointment.

Simply make the purchase you require on the booking page which confirms your commitment, receive your emailed receipt, and I will contact you the same day to arrange your session time.

I previously used an online scheduling system but ceased to do so when it became inflexible with time and date options. However, I’ve found the secure online payment booking system to be favourable with clients in combination with a conversation to meet individual requirements.

Since I work from home, I do not publicise my location online, and details of which are provided when we arrange your appointment.

Please note I do not offer session times prior to payment confirmation. This eliminates no-shows and respects everyone’s time. If you choose to call and discuss, I can indicate whether there is preferred availability for you but I no longer hold these times until you have confirmed via the booking page.

Thank you for understanding and if you have any queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

  • Pretty much yes. There are plenty of benefits to my sessions at any age and I raise my own children with a coaching approach as it is proven to demonstrate empowerment in the developing mind.

Having also been a mentor with GDF, I’ve plenty of experience with young people however I do ask for written parental consent in all instances for those under 18. If you’re booking in-person, parents have previously dropped their teenage child off, or stayed if younger.

If you're a parent or caregiver looking for support or strategies, please get in touch prior to making a booking to ask any questions and assess session suitability.

  • I hear this a lot and have had several concerned parents bring their children for Life Path sessions. Some decided to homeschool because their child doesn’t ‘fit in’. This can be down to many experiences such as increasing sensitivity, or feeling ‘different’ in some way. Some parents have taken their child through the medical system and found nothing ‘wrong’, the ‘problems’ continue and that any kind of system tends to exacerbate and alienate.

My response here is not designed to invite judgement or inflame anything and is based on my experiences of the young people I see, plus the two sons I personally have. There are many, many young people born highly sensitive, with gifts that overwhelm them, and with intense empathy that often doesn’t align with their surroundings. My purpose is to help them understand who they are and how to manage what they feel with self acceptance and validation.

I always suggest a Life Path session (perhaps after a shorter Clarity session to build rapport and trust) because this sheds so much light on to the young person’s path. They can see themselves which contributes to feeling seen and heard. I use simple language at a pace that suits them and offer one or two skills they can use immediately to build self compassion and empathy with their nervous system. For very young children, I discuss predominately with the parent or caregiver and use very light language with the child.

  • Every practitioner is different, some do, some don’t. I prefer not to for a variety of reasons and not limited to:

    Intuition
In the past, being recorded has pulled me out of my intuition and into my conscious where I watch what I say and do not do my best work. This is personal to me.

    Confidentiality
I take your confidentiality seriously and for that reason, do not even keep session notes other than abbreviated letters on a chart no one understands apart from me! With technical issues and new ways of hacking arriving every day, there simply isn’t the assurance your personal information won’t leak.

    Solution
I provide paper and journals to note your epiphanies on the spot. The richness in the present is where the clarity lies, not in a recording where the mind can attempt to divert you from your truth and pull you into patterns of thinking.

  • If you are looking for intuitive, trauma-sensitive, down to earth, compassionate yet active emotional support in approaching an area of your life to create meaning, then yes.

Many of my clients have been through books, courses, or have completed therapy and seeking continued support for their personal or spiritual development. Most report they've done as much as they can on their own but feel they're not getting anywhere.

You might be looking for change or insight around a habit, a reoccurring relationship pattern or cycle loop (de ja vu).

You may be looking to move forward with a creative ambition that you find yourself sabotaging or procrastinating on, a major life transition or looking for ways to manage your mindset and emotional wellbeing.

Or perhaps you’re looking to understand your spiritual experiences and are noticing a lot of synchronicities or having intense dreams.

  • I work from home and treat hospitality as seriously as the rest of my work.

One of my clients recently said, "Your setup/environment was important to me which is why I was really interested in you, because it didn’t seem to be the stereotypical vibe you see in movies or that I’ve heard about from other people who seek help".

There's a reason I hear this a lot. Over the years I've noted down a lot from what I personally deemed to be uncomfortable environments. I couldn't do my best work when something was amiss.

Regardless of the uncertain times we're currently in due to the yo-yo-ing 'system' of lockdowns and mandates, I want to assure you that my environment is also reflected in so much more than the physical space you temporarily occupy with me. An environment is not just physical, it's emotional and spiritual. It's a presence, a posture and a felt sense. This is reflected by not only me, but the people around you, and can be physically reflected online, outside in nature and/or over the phone.

There has never been a time where psychological and spiritual wellbeing has been more paramount. The most important environment is your own; the one within yourself - and that is where I specialise in helping you.

  • On the contrary. I'm a qualified coach and practitioner in various modalities and work out of private practice. However, I am not a ‘mental health professional’ in terms of a Psychiatrist, Doctor, Counsellor or Psychotherapist for example.

    This intentionally reflects my choice.

My work is an essential reflection of my experiences of surviving and ongoing healing from emotional trauma with sessions being in alignment with my professional certifications and code of ethics. My work is trauma-informed so whilst I’m not a ‘mental health professional’ as discussed above, I am able to hold space and remain sensitive and practical to emotion that arises during your session.

I may offer to refer you to, and/or help you find, alternative support if I consider you would benefit from this.

  • My sessions are renowned for being down to earth and easy going. I really have been led with what I've felt was missing in my personal experiences of coaching and therapy, and brought them to life in mine both in attitude, approach and environment.

Because of my unique model of working, I am able to get to the root of challenges in a shorter space of time.

In a nutshell, we form rapport, establish your focus, self-intention, hold deep conversation, answer questions, look at guidance, reflect, and teach skills or exercises.

You're welcome to talk about anything you wish to that is in service of your focus, and please know that there is no requirement to disclose traumatic detail because the work we do is not dependent on such. If you have any questions specifically relating to this, please get in touch.

I encourage you to write notes prior to your session in the event of overwhelm, and during session time with paper provided.

  • I totally understand; anything new can be daunting. It may help to chat on the phone to ease nerves and get any questions answered.

Sessions are so down to earth, compassionate and empathetic. I’d like to reassure you that there is no requirement for detail disclosure around traumatic events that risks retraumatisation. That doesn’t mean you’re not welcome to talk; it means peace of mind that you don’t have to in order for our work together to be both meaningful and effective.

Our time is actively spent developing techniques to regain control of your life that can be used immediately.

Sessions are empowering, healing, validating and non judgemental. They help you to develop a response of quiet strength in the face of your challenges allowing for increased choice and psychological flexibility in how you deal with painful thoughts, feelings and sensations that pave the way for a different tomorrow.

  • Trauma is described as any situation or experience that has left you feeling profoundly unsafe. As such, you can be left feeling psychologically and physiologically affected long after the experience has passed, even if you can’t identify with, or have a specific memory of, being traumatised.

The way you feel may have arisen from adoption, abandonment, neglect, bullying, emotional stress, addiction, childhood, intergenerational issues, depression, anxiety, parenting issues, grief or chronic pain.

Maybe you have no idea why you feel the way you do; you can’t pinpoint it. You have nothing you can identify with as to what is driving this feeling in you. You’re going round in circles, are not moving forward, are not where you want to be or thought you’d be, and are running out of hope that you’ll get anywhere close.

Perhaps you’re noticing confusion or overwhelming emotions such as shame, fear, anger or guilt. Maybe you’re losing your temper, getting palpitations, a racing heart, are sweating, feeling paralysed, numb or disengaged. You may also have developed physical health difficulties.

No two people’s experiences are the same and whilst you may hear well intentioned, “I know how you feel”, this can often lead to more isolation. I don’t try and draw parallels.

You can read a little about my own experiences on my About page to know that I’ve been through enough myself to have natural empathy. Aside from my personal and professional experience, I’m here for you. I see you, and I care enough to help you make change that will help give your life meaning.

  • Sometimes in the face of life’s difficulties, it’s hard to know what to do so it seems easier to do nothing. It can get overwhelming or feel impossible to differentiate between other’s voices and your own, especially since you can’t move online for advice around what you ‘should’ be doing. Very disempowering. It can quickly add another layer of shame, blame and confusion as to why you’re ‘not feeling better by now’ or ‘doing more’ if you’re struggling to implement what you learn.

Some of my clients have read books, blogs, watched videos, listen to podcasts, tried courses, or have actively sought counselling or similar help. You may have finished professionally-advised therapy and are looking for continued support for your personal development. Or maybe you feel it hasn’t worked or just isn’t for you. That’s all ok.

Most of my clients have purposely avoided any kind of ‘system or authority’ for a variety of reasons including fear, and concerns around being labelled or pigeon-holed. In my experience, this is particularly acute if there is a background of abandonment, attachment trauma or CPTSD. If this is true for you too, it is so important that you find the courage to obtain validation and support from a qualified professional whilst you take steps to understand your body’s response and pathway to emotional healing, whoever that may be with.

Alison was recommended to be me by my Acupuncturist and I can honestly say that I am beyond grateful. Not only has she helped me with personal things, but also guided me in relation to my business and everyday life. She has such a kind energy about her and I feel safe when talking to her and being in her presence.
